Teror is the most beautiful village on the island. In the central square are several historic buildings. The houses have different colors and all contain a typical Canarian balcony. That is why the place is also called the "Balcony City.
The Virgin Mary appeared in the 15th century and she has been the island's patron saint ever since. The Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pino houses a statue of Mary from 1481. An annual pilgrimage is organized to the basilica to honor her.
Nice to know:
- In 1979, the city was declared a historical heritage site.
- A local market is held every Sunday: highly recommended!
