Teror

Teror is the most beautiful village on the island. On the central square there are various historic buildings. The houses are painted in different colors and include the typical Canary balconies. This is why the it is also called the ‘Balcony City’.

Virgin Mary appeared in the 15th century and has since been the patron saint of the island. In the Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pino you can find a statue of Maria from 1481. Every year a pilgrimage to the basilica is organized to honor her.

Nice to know:

  • The city was declared a historical heritage in 1979

  • Every Sunday a local market is held, which is highly recommended!
