Artenara

Artenara is the highest and one of the oldest villages on the island. You can explore caves that were inhabited during the prehistoric age. There are even a number of houses to find that that were carved out of rocks or the grottos. The village has an ethnographic museum where you can learn everything about the history of the area.

Be sure to visit the grotto church La Ermita de la Cuevita. There is a statue of the Virgen de la Cuevita, the virgin Maria, to see. On the 15th of August every year a large party is held in honor of this saint.
